Ayrwaves loses a valued friend and colleague
Until the onset of illness, Jimmy Kelly was a regular contributor to Ayrwaves. He not only charmed us with his bitter sweet memories of a Northern Ireland childhood, but willingly helped in the putting together of a newsletter that was produced on such a tight budget that it had to be manually folded, collated and stapled, on what became known as our “folding days”.
No matter what the task, he was willing to give of his best, and no “folding day” was complete without his good humoured presence.
As capable of breaking into song with a surprisingly sweet voice, as being the master of a style of writing that mingled irony and warmth in equal measure, Jimmy has left us with fond memories.
It is with great sadness that we offer our condolences to his dear wife Bridie and family, and all those he has left behind.
May he rest in peace.
