Colin O’Shea’s journey from knowing that music was the path he wanted to take to releasing his debut album has been one of determination and inspiration. From an early age Colin realised his true passion lay with making music and having developed a real flair for writing he set his sights on honing his instrumental skills, which resulted in the Dubliner becoming a classically trained pianist and accomplished guitarist
Colin’s debut album has received acclaim and accolades from industry press with comparisons to Bruce Springsteen, Nick Cave, Bob Dylan and U2. Produced by David Prendergast (Kodaline, Shane McGowan, The Riptide Movement, Kila), Scars and Tones is a collection of cleverly written eclectic songs influenced by heartbreak, loss, bliss and even being a victim of a kidnapping in South America, an experience that inspired the stunning ballad ‘My Angel’.
Singles “Soldier” and “The Stars” were both inspired by Colin’s late mother who courageously battled against breast cancer. Hot Press Magazine described Soldier as “an unforgettable four-plus minutes from the rising songsmith”. The Stars is a bittersweet piano ballad with raw vocals, and lyrics that will speak to anyone who has lost someone they love. It is accompanied by a simple yet powerfully effective animated video.
The Dublin songsmith is currently putting the finishing touches to his sophomore album, with a string of new singles expected to be released very soon.
